Joint birthday party invitation wording for siblings, twins and friends
Two birthdays, one party: half the work and twice the fun, as long as each kid still feels like the star. Start with the invitation.

Keeping it fair
- Two cakes, or one cake with two sides, and sing twice, once for each kid.
- One theme they both like, or two themes that go together (space and robots, dinosaurs and volcanoes).
- Each kid invites their own friends. Set a number per child so neither feels outnumbered.
- Gifts: guests invited by one child bring a gift for that child, or say "no gifts" for both. No-gifts wording
- Friends' joint party costs: agree on a split before booking anything, usually by number of guests each.
When the ages are far apart
A five-year-old and a ten-year-old want different parties. Run two short activity stations, or split the time: the little ones' game first, then the big kids' challenge while the younger guests head home. Our games by age guide has ideas for both ends.
RSVPs for two hosts
Use one guest list with one RSVP date so you get a single headcount, and note whose guest each family is. For friends hosting together, decide who answers questions and who sends reminders. Reminder messages you can copy.
Frequently asked questions
How do you word a joint birthday party invitation?
Put both names in the headline, the same size, with each child's age: "Two birthdays, one big party! Join us for Ava's 6th and Ben's 3rd."
Do guests bring a gift for each child at a joint party?
Usually a guest brings a gift for the child who invited them. If you'd rather avoid confusion, ask for no gifts for both.
Should twins have one cake or two?
Many families do two small cakes, or one cake with two sides, and sing twice so each twin gets their moment.
How do you split the cost of a joint party with friends?
Agree before booking. The simplest split is by number of guests each child invites.
